Another Office Killed In the Line of Duty.

Officer Chris Jones, a 10-year veteran of the Middletown Township Police Department, died January 29, 2009 afternoon after a routine traffic stop. Jones was assigned to speeding complaints along 1-95 near Oxford Valley Mall. Around 10:40 am Officer Jones pulled over and cited a driver who was speeding, when another car came behind and Jones' patrol car leaving him pinned under it. Officers nearby came and pulled and lifted the cruiser Jones was rushed to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead at 12:30 pm. Middletown Police Chief Frank McKenna who plans on retiring today after 51 years says” this is my worst day at the job” and “this was like losing a son”. Officer Chris Jones leaves behind a wife and 3 children. This was the first on duty death in the history of the department.
